Stephan Balzer has managed red onion since it was founded. He feeds the network of the agency with his varied array of contacts hailing from all corners of society and culture.
From 1996 to 2000 he was partner of the agency "LAVA-Gesellschaft für digitale Medien mbH" (LAVA Society for Digital Media Holding Corporation). Prior to that, from 1991 to 1996, he was responsible for the new business division of Pixelpark. He is co-founder of the Contemporary Arts Alliance Berlin (CAA) and of the political think-tank "Public Policy Group GmbH". Furthermore, he is chairman of the board of the "Freunde der Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz e.V." (Friends of the Schaubühne at Lehniner Platz e.V.) Since 2008, he also figures as senior advisor for the betterplace foundation.
